It always seems like when I’m feeling down and feeling inadequate as a preacher, God always shows up. This past Sunday was a day where God showed up and moved in powerful ways in spite of feelings. Not only did we witness Chad, Carrie, Jeff, Jeffery and Lauren being baptized, but God also reached down into the hearts of five other individuals. Five more people accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Wow! He also led several others to recommit their lives to His will and His agenda. I will admit that I felt really encouraged by God moving me out of the way and showing up like He did. What an awesome God we serve!
Tonight I met with our leadership team for nearly two hours discussing our next journey together. I can’t share the details at this point, but I have never been so excited about what’s going to be coming in the near future. We heard the vision and dreams of our leadership and how it all ties into the vision of our church. In just a few weeks I’ll be sharing our next journey as a church, so I hope you will come each Sunday expectantly! In our leadership meeting tonight, I felt such a sense of urgency. As if we were thinking, we only have one month to live and we had better make these days count.
Tonight over dinner, Jenna asked my two year old granddaughter, “If you had one month to live, what would you do?” I loved Kylie’s response. She said, “Swing! Swing really high!” That’s awesome! My prayer is that we would all swing. Swing really high and experience the thrill of living life in the fullest. That we would all make the most of the next 30 days. That we would be the husband that we know we should have been all along. That we would be the father that we have been putting off because we are just too busy. That we wold make the time for what really matters in life. Loving our God, our family, our friends and our community.
