Last week I dared our church, especially the men, to get the Love Dare book and begin to practice loving their spouses. This 40 day devotional is amazing! Each day, there is a specific dare that you are to do in order to vove your spouse. The dare comes from the three page devitional that you just read. For an exmaple, day one’s dare was to say nothing negative to your spouse. Day two – Do at least one unexpected gesture as an act of kindness. Day three – Buy your spouse something that says, “I was thinking of you today.” Some days are more difficult than others. However, what I have discovered is that the book is changing me. It has rekindled the love, excitment and romance that we experienced early in life. It’s changing my thought patterns and having me think more and more about her instead of myself. I have this idea that I may just keep repeating the 40 days until I don’t even need to read them anymore.
I hope you took the dare to love your spouse last week. It will change you and your marriage for the better! This weekend, at Sonlight, you are going to hear an amazing story of how someone in our church continued to love their spouse even through the greatest storm of their life, and as a result, their spouse came to accept Chirst and they are now moving toward a better marriage! I can’t wait to see what God does this weekend. I hope to see you there!
