Momentum

Immediately after church yesterday, three of us left to attend Dave Ramsey’s Momentum seminar in Nashville, TN.  Last night kicked off with a banquet and some amazing food, and then we moved into our first session.  Here are a few highlights from last night:

  • What could the people of God do for the kingdom of God if they were debt free?
  • What is momentum?  A plan to completely revolutionize the way you handle God’s money.  It’s a process for creating a church filled with intense, passionate, sold-out and generous givers.
  • Momentum is discipleship.  It’s not easy because we have to change our behaviors.
  • In one word, momentum is… repentance.
  • We live in the richest place in the world, America.  Yet we have told God, “God, you have not supplied my needs.  So I’m going to borrow some money so I can have what I need.”  Aren’t we way too selfish.

Last night I discovered that Momentum is a church wide initiative where I commit myself to lead our people to financial freedom.  To rid ourselves of personal debt and church debt and become a person of generosity and a church of generosity.  I can’t wait!  It’s going to be amazing to see what God can do when we are able to be financially free and no longer slave to the lender.
