Our Life Group has been reading the book of First John every day this week. Tonight, as I was reading through it for the fourth time, God really spoke to me about showing love through actions. As I read that, I realized how much love people have shown me over these eight years of pastoring Sonlight. What came to my mind was how someone came over to my house this morning to drop off a trailer so I could load all my old deck wood and then he was planning on coming back and picking it up and taking it to the land fill for me. That’s amazing that someone would love me enough to do that for me. But it goes further than this. As this person dropped off the trailer, they took out my mailbox! It was smashed into 100 pieces! I felt so bad. They got out of the truck and took the smashed mailbox and put it into the trailer and said, “I guess I’ll be replacing a mailbox today.” I wasn’t sure what to say or do. This person was doing me a huge favor. How could I allow him to have to worry about my mailbox. Well, I went to the office and took my final exam for school and after the exam I decided I was going to go to the store, buy a mailbox, and install it myself. But as I pulled into my driveway, I noticed I had a new mailbox already installed! I’m amazed. What love! Tomorrow, I can’t wait to see this guy and hug his neck, and then slip him the money it cost for the mailbox. He shouldn’t have done it, but then again he’s been reading the same book of First John every day for the past four days. Maybe that’s what God wanted him to do. Thanks Mike! You are living in Christ!
