Sunday Night Reflections

Today was a strange day for me.  I almost felt completely out of place at church.  I’m so used to hauling in the carts and setting up.  But this morning, there wasn’t really anything for me to do once we got the carts into the building.  It seems that I’ve been replaced on the setup crew by volunteers!  It’s so cool to see so many involved in getting the school ready for ministry.  I appreciate all of them so much.  I think I can relate to a pastor who told me last year that when they moved into their first building, they lost a lot of their setup crew.  They felt like they were not needed any longer and so they left for another church.  I hope that as we move forward with a building some day that we will find a way to keep these amazing people engaged.  This morning, instead of my normal setup work, I was able to just go around and talk with a lot of our volunteers.  It felt so good.  Here are some thoughts of the day:

  • Faith is risking.
  • Four people joined the Sonlight family today!
  • Our children’s ministry is amazing.  You have got to check them out this Sunday!
  • Faith is obeying.
  • I have to find a way to shorten our membership class.  I can barely talk now.
  • Faith is expecting God to act.
  • I love my wife!  She’s so amazing!
