Tonight and tomorrow night we have two more groups of people beginning Financial Peace University. The anticipation and excitement of what God is going to do in the lives of these people is building inside of me. I know how God can use these principles that come from His word to reshape our minds and help us live in freedom from the bondage that most of us experience in regards to our fiances. A lot of us carry thousands of dollars in credit card debt, car loans, home equity loans and personal loans. Recently, two couples that I know saved their credit card offers that came in the mail over a 90 day period. In just that short time, they were offered 1.9 million dollars in debt! Of course these credit card companies don’t tell you they are selling debt. They say things like, ‘Gain financial freedom’, or ‘Take the vacation of your dreams!’ The reality is that we find ourselves sinking deeper and deeper into financial bondage and our lives are hurting because of it. We have to work longer and harder to pay for our debt and our relationships suffer because of the financial stress and the longer work hours. Not to mention that we feel guilty because we can’t help a friend in need or we can give toward God’s kingdom. Several years ago I went through this course and God allowed us to get ourselves out of debt. I can’t begin to tell you all the ways that we were blessed from being financially free. I wonder how much more ‘noise’ we could make if we were all financially free! Coming later this year, we are praying that everyone in our church will experience financial freedom and be able to be used by God to make some radical noise!
