Do you know what I find amazing? This week I’m going to be teaching on lasting joy. Not fleeting pleasures and joy that is based upon circumstances, but joy that comes from knowing and living for God. As I was preparing this afternoon, it dawned on me that our worship pastor and his wife just gave birth to Haylee Joy Peckham. And get this, Haylee Joy was created to live forever just like the joy that God wants all of us to experience for all of eternity. I can remember the times that my children came into this world and the joy that flooded my heart. To this day I still feel the joy of their new birth into this world. As I think about the time in my life when I surrendered my life to Jesus, and I began to place my faith in what He had done for me on the cross, I experienced a new birth and with the new birth came a joy that I cannot extinguish. Knowing Christ and abiding in His word brings us internal and eternal joy that circumstance cannot dissipate. God is so amazing and I’m so glad that I have His joy down in my heart.
