This morning as I was leaving the gym (yes, I was at the gym for over an hour! I’m working out every day.), someone asked me what was happening this Sunday at Sonlight. I said, ‘What do you mean? It’s Easter. We will be celebrating Jesus’ victory.’ Now I know what she really meant. She was really asking, ‘What is going to be the one thing that you do this Sunday that’s going to be completely unexpected?’ You see, we always try to think outside the box and come up with creative ideas to communicate God’s truth. Two weeks ago I used some sugar cookies with icing to make the point of the message stick. Last week, we used metal garbage cans and a song to communicate how we were going to make a difference in this community by making the name of Jesus famous. I love building anticipation and excitement! No one knows what to expect next when they arrive at Sonlight. Last Sunday we showed a preview clip of the message series that we are beginning this Sunday called ‘LifeSwap.’ She said, ‘I can’t wait to see how this relates to what God’s word says.’
I believe the church ought to be the most creative and inspiring place on the face of the planet. We serve the most creative God ever. Just look at all the different people He has created! :’) Not to mention the amazing universe that we live in or the oceans, or the mountains. I love how creative our God is. I think it pleases the heart of God when we seek to be creative, whether it’s in our marriage, at church or even at work.
